To volunteer at KIPP Charlotte please contact Development Associate Shayna Quilty at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 980.297.3679

We ask that all potential volunteers fill out the following forms and return them to Shayna Quilty:
Volunteer Waiver and Consent for Background check
After you clear a background check and we contact you with the results, you will be free to begin volunteering. Because KIPP Charlotte is a charter school and not part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, you must fill these forms out even if you have previously volunteered with other public schools or agencies.

Please review the following volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering in other capacities, feel free to send your suggestions to Shayna Quilty.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities at KIPP Charlotte

Summer Interns:
The KIPP Through College team and the Development Department would each love to have the assistance of an intern to help plan for next school year. Schedule to be arranged between the team and the intern.

Gift Card Drive:
Donate gift cards in small increments ($5 - $15) for stores around Charlotte to be given as prizes to students. Ideas include craft stores, restaurants, and other retail stores.

Main Office Volunteer:
Volunteers are most needed from 7am - 8am Monday - Friday. Activities include helping with late arrivals/writing tardy slips, handling written requests for early release and other miscellaneous duties.

Teacher / Grade Level Assistant:
Several teachers are interested in having a volunteer assist with various classroom tasks, possibly including one-on-one or small group work with students, grading, filing, copying, etc.

Stain Picnic Tables:
Several picnic tables have been built to create outside seating on campus.  These picnic tables need to be regularly maintained and periodically stained for year-round use.

Beautification of the KIPP Campus:
We welcome the opportunity for organizations to volunteer their time by planting shrubs, pruning bushes, and working with students to keep the grounds litter-free and beautiful.

Mentoring:
Mentors meet with a student on a regular basis and develop a relationship with the student.

Tutoring:
Work with students on their current homework assignments and areas in which the students need extra support.

Reading Buddies:
Meet with students and help them with their current library book or materials from their reading and writing class.

Test Proctors:
Serve as test monitors throughout the year for special testing including MAP Tests and the North Carolina End of Grade Tests held at the end of each academic year.

Student Materials:
Various student materials such as small books, reference materials, and manipulatives for small group instruction need to be created, copied, and laminated.  While teachers are working diligently to create these materials, assistance in producing the finished items would be helpful.

Administrative Assistance:
Helpers are needed for on-going administrative projects involving copying, preparing large mailings, filing and data input.  Also, general assistance in the office may be needed when a member of the staff is absent or in a meeting.

KIPP Parent Alliance Team (KPAT):
Volunteer with and support the services and programming providing by the parent alliance including the Annual Book Fair, Thanksgiving with the Pride, Student Fun Days, BBQs, parenting classes and fundraisers.

Partnerships
