KIPP Charlotte accepts enrollment forms throughout the year. KIPP schools are free, open-enrollment public schools. Students are accepted regardless of background or academic record. If more students apply than spaces are available, students are admitted by lottery. The lottery for the 2012-2013 school year took place on Thursday, April 19, 2012. When all spaces are filled, applicants will be placed on waiting lists for future openings in the order in which they are received.

At KIPP Charlotte:

We help students climb the mountain to and through college by:

  * Expecting more than others think is possible
  * Creating a safe and structured learning environment
  * Requiring parents, teachers, and students to all sign a Commitment to Excellence form that sets clear expectations
  * Extending the school day, week and year
  * Offering extracurricular activities
  * Organizing exciting end of year field lessons and college visits
  * Having teachers available by cell phone after school for homework help
  * Holding students accountable for behavior as well as academic success
