Q: Where is the school located?
A: On the East side of Charlotte at 931 Wilann Dr. Charlotte, NC, 28215
About one mile from the intersection of The Plaza and Eastway Blvd, next to Briarwood Elementary.

Q: What are school hours?
A: Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Friday 7:30 AM - 3:15 PM
Some Saturdays 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Summer school 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Q: What classes do students take?
A: Reading and Math: All grades, every day
Science: Every day all year for 5th and 8th grades; Every day for one semester for 6th and 7th grades
Writing: Every day for one semester for 6th and 7th grades
Social Studies: All grades, every day for one trimester
Depending on their grade level, students may also be enrolled in Chorus, High School Placement Class, Spanish, and/or Technology. Students may be able to participate in a club during the last block of the day Mondays - Thursdays.

For Parents

Q: Is Saturday school mandatory?
A: Yes. These days are part of the school year and count towards attendance.

Q: Is summer school mandatory?
A: Yes. To be enrolled for the school year all students must attend the two week summer session (two and a half weeks for new students) or their place will be offered to a student on the waiting list.

Q: What is the dress code?
A: In order to ensure that the focus is on learning, students must abide by the dress code. The KIPP Charlotte uniform consists of a KIPP Charlotte t-shirt or sweatshirt, or a college t-shirt or sweatshirt; khaki or navy blue pants; a brown or black belt; black or brown shoes (soles and shoelaces must be the same color as the shoes); and white, black, brown, or blue socks. Students may not wear hooded sweatshirts or zippered jackets when they are inside the classroom. Students may wear kakhi or navy blue skirts, capris, or shorts that are at least knee length. Hats, scarves, gloves, jackets, etc. may be worn when transitioning outside, but must be removed inside.

Q: Where can students purchase extra uniform shirts?
A: In the main office before, after, or during (with permission) school hours.

Q: How early can I drop my child off in the morning?
A: Students may be dropped off in the morning as early as 6:30 AM.

Q: What meals does the school provide?
A: Breakfast and lunch are available to all students. Students who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch must pay a fee.

Q: What school supplies does my child need?
A: All students need to come on the first day with 2 pencils and a book bag. The rest will be provided by the school.
